Exploring Long Exposure Photography with Jared Plante & Shawn Pierce

Date: 09-10-2025
Time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Place: RPAC
Have you ever wanted to capture the beauty of motion in a way the human eye can’t see? Join us on September 10th, 2025, for an evening dedicated to the art of long exposure photography. Our club president, Jared Plante, will guide us through the creative possibilities that come with slowing down the shutter—transforming moving water into silky streams, turning traffic into light trails, and capturing the night sky in ways that feel otherworldly. He’ll share techniques, camera settings, and inspiring examples to help you see how long exposures can bring a new dimension to your work. Following the presentation, our vice president, Shawn Pierce, will lead a hands-on outdoor demonstration. Participants will have the chance to experiment with their own cameras, practice the techniques discussed, and explore the exciting results that come from playing with time and light. If you’d like to take part in the hands-on session (around 8:00 p.m.), we suggest bringing: Your camera (ideally one with manual settings) A sturdy tripod A remote shutter release or interval timer (if available) A wide-angle or standard lens Neutral density (ND) filter (optional, but useful for light control) This is a wonderful opportunity for photographers of all levels to expand their skills, try something new, and capture images that truly stand out.
