Join us for an evening of momentary fascination as GRCC VP Shawn Pierce speaks about and demonstrates how to create dramatic waterdrop photos.
Shawn will cover setup, lighting, specialized equipment, what to add to the water, and how you can get started with household items.
Then, he will demonstrate the technique he uses to turn simple drops of liquid into drama-filled photos.
Shawn Pierce is a portrait and commercial photographer based in Rochester, NH, and the owner of Studio Two Seven Nine. With a background in photojournalism and visual storytelling, his work explores the emotional depth of everyday moments—whether in the form of a candid portrait, a quiet detail, or the adrenaline of motorsport.
Shawn’s photography journey began in the early 1990s at Lime Rock Park with a hand-me-down Ricoh Singlex and a fascination with capturing moments. That passion evolved into a full-time career, now spanning portraiture, branding, event coverage, and editorial commissions. As the Staff Photographer at Lime Rock Park since 2018, he blends documentary instinct with artistic intention.
His work has appeared in international publications and national campaigns, and has earned multiple honors from the New Hampshire Professional Photographers Association, including eight consecutive Commercial Elite Image Awards, as well as top recognition in Reportage and Open/Illustrative categories. In 2025, he was featured on the Creative Guts Podcast for his creative work and community impact.
Shawn is also an active arts advocate, serving as President of the NHPPA (2024-25), as the founder of the Greater Rochester Camera Club, and as a member of the City of Rochester Arts & Culture Commission.
As a neurodivergent artist, husband, and father, he brings empathy and authenticity to every aspect of his work. His practice is rooted in the core values of Creativity, Professionalism, Inclusion, and Community.
