Winter Show 2024
Date: 12-01-2024
Time: -
Place: RPAC
Leading lines are a powerful compositional tool in photography that guide the viewer's eye through the image. These lines—whether they are roads, fences, bridges, or natural elements—create a sense of depth, draw attention to focal points, and help to structure the visual narrative of your photograph. By using leading lines, you can enhance the composition and impact of your images, directing the viewer's gaze along a deliberate path.
- "Finished" means printed photos must be framed in a gallery-friendly frame (able to have wire attached across the back) and ready to hang (already wired when dropped off). Sawtooth hangers are not sufficient; hanging wire must be used.
- Photos do not have to be printed on paper! Photos printed on canvas, glass, and metal are also acceptable; just keep in mind these take longer to get back after ordering, so give yourself enough time! Submissions printed on non-paper -materials must still meet the size, theme, and ready to hang requirements as framed photos.
- Finished submissions in any format must not exceed 16”x24” for the winter show; this means your photo FRAME cannot exceed 16”x24”. If you bring a matted 16”x24” photo in a 20"x28" frame, your photo will not be hung. (For uncommon sizes, a good way to remember the requirement is that your finished submission should total 40” or less.)
- Submissions must meet the show theme of "Leading Lines.” Submissions that do not meet the theme will not be entered into the show.
- Submissions must be titled; they DO NOT have to be priced for sale, but pricing is permitted if you wish. (Look for a separate post under “Featured” regarding how to price your submissions.)
- Submissions should NOT show your name / signature / watermark on either the photo or the mat; the judges cannot judge submissions unless they are anonymous. After the judging, small signs will be hung next to the photos to identify the titles / artists, so friends and family will be able to find and admire your art!
- Any submissions seen by the judges before the show cannot be judged; do not share them on the group Facebook page beforehand.
- Submissions can be matted, but a mat is not required.
- Unlike the monthly photo challenges, there is no requirement or restriction on when show submission photos were taken.
- Up to two photos can be submitted; however, there is a finite amount of space, and we do not know ahead of time how many submissions we will receive. When dropping off, please indicate which submission should take preference if we are restricted to hanging one submission per person.
- Drop off for the winter show will be Friday, November 22nd from 4:00-6:00 pm and Saturday, November 23rd from 9:00-10:00 am.
